Jim spent his career working as an electrical engineer for Louis Allis Company. Along with raising three children, Carol worked as a bank teller, elementary school secretary, accountant, tutor and teacher. Educationally, Carol studied accounting at Waukesha County Technical Institute and Carroll College and received her Associate Degree in Accounting in 1978. After spending fifteen years as an accountant, she left that field and took a year off to play (writing poetry, quilting and enjoy time with friends and family). Then, she returned to college to study English. Carol first attended the University of Wisconsin-Waukesha and, then, studied at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with Writing Concentration in 1997. While in college, she spent much time tutoring students who struggled with writing and loved every minute of it. She had found her passion: teaching. For the last eight years, Carol has worked as a substitute teacher for the Waukesha School System and has no desire to retire yet. Helping a struggling student to master a math concept, gain a better understanding of the English language, or feel loved and accepted is very rewarding. And as a substitute teacher, Carol is free to travel with Jim, who retired in 1998, in their RV to the southwest during the cold winter months. However, there was no traveling this past winter because they needed to stay close to home and keep an eye on their new home being built in Oconomowoc. Carol is moving back to Cooney.
