From Barbara: While raising a family, Barbara spent 15 years in Civil Service as a Payroll Clerk for the Army followed by several years in the Private Sector as an Inventory Control Specialist. Barbara and her first husband, an Army Sgt, had three children and lived in Spain when he was on active duty. Her second husband brought four children to the new marriage, bringing the total to seven! Husband, Herbert, worked with the City of Omaha, then was on his own. He survived a liver transplant in 1993.

From Lynn: Lynne and Don were married in 1961 and have three children. Don is a Lutheran Minister.
Lynn has been an RN for her whole career. She attended the Milwaukee School of Nursing after high school and in 1980 got her B.S, in Nursing and Psychology at Elmhurst College.
Lynn and Don enjoy traveling.

From June: After high school, June worked in the office at the Waukesha Freeman. She and Harold were married in 1959 and lived in Mukwonago. They have five children.
Harold managed the Sentry store in Mukwonago. June took a job at the local Cheese Shop when the children were grown. Harold and June ran their own business in Mukwonago for a while. They moved down to Deland FL when they retired in 2001.

From Kathleen: Kathy and Jerry were married in 1957. They have two children. Jerry worked for Waukesha Motor his entire career, retiring in 1999. He also worked part time as a bartender.
Kathy worked as a cook at the Bark River Resort for a while but spent most of her career with the Sullivan School System. They enjoy camping.

From Nancy: Nancy and David lived in Brookfield WI for a while where Nancy worked as a part-time travel agent. They moved to McKinney TX for a while and then returned to Wisconsin. She and Dave now live in Hartland where Nancy worked in real estate. They have 4 children.
Recently Nancy toured China.

From Nancy: After high school Torgy went to Luther College and went into teaching for the next eight years before becoming a fulltime mom. She and Duane married in 1959. They have three sons.
In 1985, with the kids grown, Nancy worked at Tobins for awhile, then got her teaching certificate and Bachelor of Education degree and went back to teaching school in 1987. She got her Masters degree in 1995, when most of us were starting retirement!
Nancy writes:
“I retired from teaching three years ago and Duane and I moved to Condo living – complete with pool. Our life revolves around our three boys, their wives and our six incredible grandchildren.”

From Gale: Gale graduated from UW-Madison in 1960 and attended the Shakespeare Institute in England where she met future husband, Graham. Gale worked at the UN in NY for a period and then married,
Gale and Graham first lived in Gilford CN where Graham was Art Curator at Yale and Gale worked at Trinity College. They moved to Detroit in 1968 where Graham served as Curator of American Art at DIA. The Hood’s final move was to the Williamsburg VA where Graham served as Curator of Colonial Williamsburg for 28 years until retirement in 2000.
Gale served for 8 years on the Williamsburg school board. She also ran the adult Education (Basic Skills and GED program) in the Williamsburg and Mathews County School systems. Gale is active in gardening She is a registered “Master Gardener”. She recently drove to Mississippi to help care for and find homes for displaced pets from Hurricane Katrina. She took two dogs home with her.
She and Graham have two children.

Class Prophecy: Pauline is kept busy now-a-days writing new books for her series, “Alice Bombanger, Navy Nurse.”

From Pauline: After high school, Pauline worked as a nurse. She and Bud were married in 1957. Bud started his career as an owner/operator of his own truck and developed it into a trucking company, Fairway Transit, over the years. He and Pauline have worked at the company since it was formed.
One of the woman drivers at Fairway Trucking, Susan Hawke, was a star on CBS’s “Survivors!” Pauline stays in contact with Susan.
Pauline adds, “I’ve been married to Bud (Bernard) for 49 years. We have three children and 5 grandchildren. Although we call ourselves semi-retired we remain active in our “Fairway Transit, Inc.” trucking business, owning 37 trucks and having 25 additional owner operators. I have remained very active in the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association consisting of 1250 trucking companies, now serving as vice-president becoming the president in October 2008.
I am in my 4th term as Waukesha County Supervisor. I have served the past 5 years as a member of the nine member Board of Trustees of Waukesha County Technical College. Bud and I have a 46 foot motor yacht as our retirement home. For the past two winters we have taken it across Lake Michigan to the Cal Sag waterway at Hammond, IN to the Illinois River, to the Mississippi, to the Ohio River, to the Tennessee River, to the Tombigbee River, to the Black Warrior River which ends in Mobile Bay, AL then the inter-coastal Waterway to Apalachicola, FL, where we cross the Gulf of Mexico finally ending up in Bradenton, FL.
In May, we reverse the trip ending up in Milwaukee’s McKinley Marina. We drive or fly back and forth from Florida to meet our business and other Wisconsin commitments resulting in less than half of winter’s days in sunny Florida. My only connection to my nursing career is my nurse friends and my efforts as WCTC board member to expand that program.

From Carol: Carol has three children. She donated one of her kidneys to son, John, who is now an architect an Financial Advisor! After OHS, Carol was a bookkeeper at Foot-so-Port. From there, Carol became office manager of Pabst Blue Ribbon Sales and then took an administrative position at Taylor Ent.and lastly worked at the Wisconsin Title Service. She also worked in sales at Kohls. Her hobbies have included antiques and gardening. She has “dabbled” in golf, motorcycling, square dancing and boating among other things. Carol writes, “I’m still working part time at a Title Company and at Kohls. I’m enjoying gardening , reading, a little travel, lots of shopping –(estate sales, specifically) and doing a lot of cooking with veggies and herbs from my garden. I sew baby quilts for “new arrivals” of family and friends.” News of Grandchildren – “I have five grandchildren plus a sixth, a grandson who passed away at 14 due to complications of diabetes and autism. (We miss him very much but were lucky to enjoy him for 14 years. He was a happy kid who loved life immensely!)
One of the grand children is a teacher in CT and a second is a Durham NC policeman after serving in the Army in Iraq. Four of the grandchildren are still in college.

From Ann: Anne and Ed started out living in Oconomowoc where Ed was a controller for Allis Chalmers. In 1981, Ed was transferred to Independence MO, and Ann stayed back in WI until the youngest graduated in 1982. After their stint in MO, they moved on to Lake Zurich IL, always with the idea of moving back to WI. In 1997 they did and to the same house they left in 1980. Ed survived a heart attack he had in the late 90’s while vacationing in Door Country and has been doing fine.
Ann and Ed have two daughters and enjoy traveling – especially Europe. Ann reports, “We enjoy living in Oconomowoc, spending a month in AZ each winter, and a summer trip to Europe.
Entertaining our five grandchildren consumes the summer!”
